  1. No it Definately wasn't Richies fault. I spoke to Kate today and she admits, she couldn't have replaced the hatch properly.
  2. Damn, Iv'e just realised, I had a cuppa on that last week. I'm sure her owner is Kate. I'll definitely update you all today. Oh ! and she was having trouble starting after some guy worked on the engine. His boat is "Alfie Too" Chap called Richard. Anyone know anymore.?
  3. I'll pop down there this morning, and update this posting. Oh dear the perils at sea and all that. I really have got a steep learning curve ahead of me.
  4. Oh bl00dy hell. I have changed my holiday dates on the back of being able to get through. I will be there around next Friday the 6th I hope some progress has been made by then. My hopes were lifted when I noted boats were getting through 3 weeks ago, so changed my holiday plans back again. Jeeeeeez if selling a house and buying a flat wasn't stressful enough. On top of that buying a boat and planning an 8 day maiden voyage, having never steered a narrowboat either. OOoooooer I need a drink.
  5. I'm confused. !! I wondered why Pennie was looking when she had the Rose, sorry MtB all in jest. Is it Lmcgrath87 that's looking. ?
  6. Well done Pennie, many many congratz. May god bless her and all who...... well, you know. Brilliant. Me next week.
  7. Ahh, great Alan, thank you. I did canal plan. but it didn't look as simple as that.
  8. OOoooh really. that sounds optomistic. I'm not sure of tank size yet hope its economical.
  9. Yeah I realised that they are when I was there last. But I'm doing Stowe Hill to Hertford so thinking ahead, I may need to stop for more fuel on the way.
  10. I have done a couple of searches on the site for diesel prices, and was surprised to find that there has been no real updated results for around a year. Am I missing something or does anyone think it's worth starting a constantly updated/monitored post on the subject. I am just 9 days away from taking charge of my first boat, so am very green on this ( and every other ) subject, please excuse me if I have missed the obvious.
  11. No me too It might be that Pennie may be looking for ANOTHER boat Mike. Keep up
  12. OK, the title say's it all really. While I am steering, and there is only me and the dog on board. I really do not need to have to turn around and retrace my steps, cause I did a wrong un. So could someone recommend a map to buy that is user friendly, Ie not a folding map that is 4 feet square.
  13. Been thinking about that for myself. While I'm around Hertford working, I'll shuffle the car up and down using the ped. But when I eventually go full time CCing, I may just sell the car and buy a tatty one whenever I need one.
  14. Hi Pennie, I like these two. http://narrowboats.a...phtml?id=400085 http://narrowboats.a...phtml?id=395310 Both look great, now I wish I hadn't looked having spent my money. OOooer, not a good idea tolook once you have bought me thinks. Ooops. But anyway, they both look good and i would take a trip to see them if I was still in the market. The first one is not on my list, though I loved the shape,it'sjust that I thought you wanted one to move on to straight away. Good luck.
  15. I saw this boat doing about 5-7 knots on the Lee about a month back. From the towpath I challenged the steerer that it was too fast and not dawdling.
  16. Dont you dare leave. It's people like you that will sort out the cliques. Like you I couldn't (still can't ) put up pics but I will work on it and get back to you. Have a look at the "reply to this topic" section. Just to the right of the Smiley is a " My Media" icon. Click that to browse your pictures and bingo. Simples
  17. Some votes of confidence for the prammy are welcome. I didn't have one on my list, but now its too late. I'm sure to see the benefits after a short while. Just 2 weeks to goand I am "sailing"
  18. ARE We Talking About Text Size Still. ?
  19. Awesome may god bless her and all that stuff. Congratz. Have this on me.
  20. I do hope that you don't just pass me by. Just come on board for a glass of something. Its a shame that the Lee is so much of a terminus and no straight forward link to the GU. Apparently, it's an 8 day trek back here from Rugby.

  22. Athy and Pennie, yeah I'll be CCing around the Hertford Lee and Stort area for a few months. It seems like a good deal for me to stay at work for a while and cash in on cheap life style while getting rent from my flat at the same time. I think putting some money back into my account might help me sleep better. Pennie, good luck with your transition, looks like you been losing some sleep too, I noticed your post was at 1.57 am, lol It's coming up 05.00 now and Iv'e been up for over an hour already. I really hope I sleep better on the boat.
  23. Hi Pennie, sorry it's taken me a week. I have been torn between buying a flat, selling, moving and packing my house up. And the fact that bridge 84 at Milton keynes has prevented navigation, a must for me when I pick up Alfie in 2 weeks or so. Send me a pic of your Rose of York and i will keep an eye out. Though I must admit I plan to stay around Hertford for the time being. But things change so quickly so you never know. Right now I'm on Hi Patty-Ann,please read above. I would let you know in advance when I get to your neck of the woods, but don't know where you are.
