Best thing being able to move. Worst thing is the reliance on electric from batteries during the winter months. Equal with the crap weather we seem to be getting more of.

I'm in Braunston Boats on the 8th of March. So I'm thinking I could black the base plate my self. I am concerned about the time of year, but I have slipped up before in May, so it's always a gamble in the UK

Wow you did well. I actually enjoyed the fact I was in water (sort of) for most of them. My day started at 10.30 finished by 15.30 including a couple of breaks chatting and blackberry picking for a nice treat tomorrow. Moored now at Star City. Safely weed free.

I came from Pelsall. From Wolverhampton. The worst 5 days of my boating life. Over 4000 miles and I wish I'd never seen the Wyrley and Essington canal. I have never encountered so much weed for so long. In total 19 miles of the 23 I've done this week. ?‍♂️

If anyone knows of a guy called Martin moored at Longwood. About 60 long greying fair hair, with a long Platt. I'd like to thank him again for helping me with 6 of the 7 Rushall locks with his friend (name unknown) really such a pair of silver knights. Top geezas ?

I'm about a mile away. I'll give it a go tomorrow now. It does look like the next 200 metres are the worst. There is also a fallen tree between me and the locks. It is passable, but means going through thicker weed to do so. Personally, I think it's as close to impassable than I have ever known. Tried that too. The build up at the front makes it impossible. In fact it's so thick all around the boat, despite an off shore wind, I havnt needed to tie up. ?

Cheers Nick. I think a mile 1/2 ? have vented at CaRT but 2 hours nothing. Having secured the boat and prepared the prop, I'm now walking to the locks to get an idea of what lays ahead.

I am now WELL AND TRULY STUCK. The Tame Valley got me before Perry Bar locks. Has anyone any idea what I can do. I've taken 5 hours to cover 1 mile. Been in the weed hole 7 times. The front is ploughing up So much Cabomba Weed, that I can't push through if I had a clear prop. I've called CaRT so far 2 hours and nothing. I'm scratching my head for ideas.

I'm looking for a safe secure overnight mooring around the camp hill flight. Any ideas or recommendations. ?

I'm feeling a bit confused by all this solar elektrikery stuff, but I'll stick my oar in here. I have 2 arrays also, and at most times its the doggies. However, like as mentioned above, one controller takes president and t'other goes AWOL or float. In a nutshell though, I have been advised by an expert (un named of course) that my settings are OK. My 2 arrays are 400wts and 335Wts both into their own controller. As has been mentioned I concur, that this set up is indeed very handy for mooring along trees/buildings and their shading. So I say, go for it.

What is it with you people. Someone offers advice with the best intentions. Then some clever know it all hacks the post to pieces. If you have nothing positive to add, go and take the dog for a walk. I'm getting sick to death of all these nayslayers.

Special features. Only that I have one already and fitting would line up with everything. Plus the miriad of spares I carry on board.
