I suspect in many cases the guy that does the servicing is on minimum wage,  unpacks it, inflates it to check for leaks, swaps the canister and trigger and packs it up again.  Not much more can be done.  Probably not exactly highly trained.

As has been said and you are doing, service them yourself. But watch you are putting the right cannisters back in!!!

Sorry but im going to rant now...

Life jackets only work if you are wearing them.

  1. Do you know where it is
  2. Does everybody else know where it is
  3. Do you and everybody else know how to put it on correctly, adjust it, use it?
  4. Do you and everybody else know how to put it on correctly, adjust it, use it?
  5. Do you and everybody else know how to put it on correctly, adjust it, use it?

Touching and using this kit regularly will keep it in better shape and if used appropriately will save lives. Keeping it stowed under a bed in a bag not so much...
