nicknorman
It's probably coked up. When did you last decoke it (ie service it)? Do you run it from a thermostat such that it can cycle on and off? If so that greatly speeds up the coking up process.
eightacre
My MX40 manual suggests the following possible causes: 1. Inadequate fuel - Replace with proper grade 2. Combustion air inadequate due to clogged air pipes - Clean air inlet and exhaust pies 3. Carbon build-up in combustion chamber - Clean 4. Battery voltage low - Start engine to charge battery 5. Too much fuel supplied - Replace fuel pump
Oxford Landing
My first thought was battery so run whilst going along but did not clear, last decoke was some time ago but have not used a lot and yes run from thermostat. NMEA
If you give the 40 a decoke it is important to replace the glowplug boss with screen at the same time, it is an imortant part of the fuel vaporisation and efficient burn which will extend the period until the next decoke.
