You should do if you fully bleed the filter and pipework without turning the engine over.

Theoretically, or practically?

 

Theoretically you should bleed the lot. In practice, you may get away with bleeding up to the pump inlet. The law of Sod says you'll do this, then the engine will stall and you'll have to bleed the pump
