mukini heater

Hi FOLKS

I have a mikuni ( webasto ? ) heater

works fine on heating and hot water

there is no bypass valve in the pipe system to divert from heating and hot water ( winter use ) to hot water only ( summer use )

I have tried turning off the rads ( leaving the towel rad on ) but the heater keeps on running although the water is very hot.

Any ideas please

Dave

Don't quite understand the question but if the water is very hot and the Mikuni is still running, why not switch it off?

We have a Mikuni, and as you say, there is no way to get hot water only without heating the rads. In summer we turn off the rads and mostly use the engine to heat the water.

We have a Mikuni. It supplies heat. The heat is directed to the rads via a tap, and to the calorifier by another tap. If I turn off the rad tap, all the heat goes to the calorifier. But the calorifier can't absorb all the heat for long, so after 10 mins or so the Mikuni goes to half power. Then it starts to cycle on and off, which is BAAAAD. So I switch it off.

The point being that whether or not you can send heat only to the calorifier is a function of the plumbing, not that it's a Mikuni.

Was told to have at least one radiator on when running the Mikuni in the summer to avoid the situation Nick refers to above. Not ideal scenario in hot weather so if staying more than one night and consequently no engine heated water, I run a suitcase generator, switching on immersion heater for an hour or so when battery chargers not working so hard.

Having gate valves at the heater output "T" junction allows a seasonally adjustable balance to be maintained between radiator and calorifier circuits.
