johnswateryadventures
I run a digital charger from an inverter generator, usually put it on when I go out, and sometimes the tank runs dry before I get back, I've heard that the geny coughing and spluttering to a stop and the interrupted electric output like this will damage the electronics in the charger, is this right or wrong ? by'eck
I see why you are concerned and have always tried to avoid such situations, but haven't experienced or seen evidence to support damage caused to a charger by generator run down. blackrose
I run my Honda generator down by switching the fuel tap off to drain the fuel from the carb. The idea is to prevent gum or deposits contaminating the carb because I don't use the generator that often. Not sure if this method works but if I'm in danger of damaging the electrics I'd like to know.
Keith M
Why not turn the battery charger off when turning the fuel tap of It is very good practice to let the generate run for a period of load before stopping. Keith
johnswateryadventures
Why would running it off load be good for it ?
