jenevers
I' d be glad if someone could tell me what these numbers mean (one number above each lever on my 4LW fuel pump. -10,-8,-10,-14 . Also, there's the letter "K" in the bottom right corner. Edited April 27, 2015 by jenevers
martyn 1
The -10 -8 -10 -14 is the calibration data from when your pump has been setup to ensure the same amount of fuel comes from each element, and the K means its a later K type injector pump which means it has to be set with a different thickness phasing disc than the earlier engines, so you need to make sure you have a very late copy of the manual for your engine that covers the K type settings. Thanks. I know that the fuel pump is not the original to the engine (which is 1945). There's no engine number on the pump specification plate. I hope I never have to have any work done on the pump! Sounds very specialized.

Well if your engine is 1945 then a K type pump is definitely not the original one. however to clarify things for you the K type pump and the earlier type are interchangeable as essentially they are the same and it is the settings in the cam box below that is where it differs. If you ever need fuel pump work there are a number of specialists that still know how to deal with the older stuff.

So I imagine whoever fitted the non original fuel pump must have known what they were doing. thanks for the clarification.
