Can't do an old photo, but this is from the Oxford Canal tonnage book for 1920 onwards.

Er, has anyone been through and analysed this material? I think Charles Hadfield did see some similar material, and made use of it, but not in detail.

I think there's lots of use of it about individual firms, carriers, and canals, in such journals as that of the RCHS and Narrowboat, but I don't know of an overall economic survey of canal carrying about all the different canal companies.

 

Happy to be corrected if there is, though!
