The Trent and Mersey Canal Society is NOT selling these items, NOR receiving any money.

However we wanted to advertise these items to the widest possible audience of Maureen's old friends.

Just a reminder that Maureen's plates are being auctioned next Saturday at Middleport. I've just had a call from the organiser and have agreed to demonstrate some canal style painting there on Saturday. She is organising some childrens' painting workshops too, along with some other craft stalls - could be worth a look if you are nearby.

Hi all

 

Just to wrap this item up. I was at Middleport Pottery ( home of Burleigh ware if anyone is interested ) on Saturday, for a canal themed day to coincide with the auction of Maureen Shaw's plates. I know the weather didn't help but the attendance was quite meagre. I didn't attend the auction as such, though I popped in shortly before it started - there were only a handful of prospective buyers waiting in the room, a pity. Then again, there were few visitors anyway, despite the presence of the cheese boat and Morris dancers, along with other craft demonstrators. They at least had the benefit of a warm visitors' centre to work in - my spot, in a dimly lit, cold room was less welcoming. Ah well!
