Except that, having opened the bridge and allowed boats passage through, they have now changed their minds and closed the bridge to all canal movements until they reassess things next week. This will open up the canal to navigation but there will be no pedestrian or vehicular access across the canal until a new bridge is fitted. Great news! The bridge cannot now be used to cross the canal by pedestrians or vehicles. We will advise further when we have a more certain date for the bridge to be replaced.
