Day One

Burton Waters to The Packet Inn, Dog Dyke

No pictures for this section unfortunately as we were in a bit of a hurry after work to catch up with Devocean and her crew. We arrived at the boat at 6.55pm and by 7.00pm we were on our way. Our neighbours must have though we were mad as no sooner had we arrived and dumped our gear in the cockpit we had fired up and left.

This was a long run for a friday evening but we did make it just in time for last orders at the bar. cheers.gif

Day Two

Dog Dyke to Antons Gowt

The plan had been to head out of Boston on the tide today but in typical British summer time fashion the heavens opened and we had a very soggy day. So we had the short run to Antons Gowt where we found that the local sailing club had monopolised the moorings for their annual regatta. Never mind with a bit of forward thinking we got NC rafted up so we could shuffle a few boats around.

Then it was time to settle into the local pub, The Malcolm Arms for the day.

Day Three

Antons Gowt to Wells next the Sea

Today was a much brighter day. Much better for the trip across the wash so we left the moorings just as the regatta was about to start and took a steady trot down to Boston. We were not due through the lock until 2.30pm so we had a bit of hanging around but it was worth the wait.

And soon we were out of the gates and heading to sea.

Before long we were entering the now familiar channel to Wells Harbour.

Day Five

Wells next the Sea

Not much in the way of pictures to show from today. It was wet miserable and bloody choppy with a strong north easterly wind blowing down the harbour

Day Six

Wells next the Sea

The weather has improved no end and we even manage a lie in which after the last few tides was a miracle. So its more sight seeing for today.

Wells next the Sea to Langrick Bridge

All too soon its time to head home again. This week has flown by.

Its not very often we see the sea this calm!! But after a choppy few days moored in harbour its a welcome sight.

As we are waiting out the tide for a change in the Wash we head to Charlie buoy to find the anchorage.

Day Nine

Langrick Bridge to Burton Waters

After a quick stop for fuel at Geordies, (thanks to Dave for opening up to refuel us on a Sunday  ) we set off on our way back home. The sun is shining and we have a relaxed cruise home in the pleasant weather. And a pleasant suprise when we stop off at The Pyewipe our local pub, as Dave the dredger driver from Wells is there with his familiy, so it would have been rude not to continue where we had left off a couple of nights previous

Summary

So to sum up another great trip of circa 180 miles with 150 litres of fuel burned.

Naughty-Cal proved to be in fine form so we can now look forward to our summer holiday to the Scottish borders in five weeks time.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just found out we were photographed from above whilst we were in Wells the other week.

A group of microlights were overhead taking pictures.

We are the last boat on the pontoon to the right of the shot behind the two boats rafted up which are Challenger and Devocean. cheers.gif

Great photos, thanks!

We visited that area this week for the first time - by car (MX5) not boat. Fantastic scenery especially the Wash at Hunstanton, though if I lived in south Lincs for any length of time I'd be hungry for hills.

Really enjoyed the videos as well

Col

Seems so long ago now!

We are busy getting ready for our big trip now in a couple of weeks. Been busy plotting routes and inputting waypoints into the plotter.

Refuelled yesterday which is the first time since coming back from Wells. Had a nice surprise as she had used less than we expected at 85 litres.

Next week will be a weekend of cleaning and changing oils and filters. Then we are ready to go.

Need some nice weather now!
