Buoys on Grand Union, Nr Watford

If you go past Common Moor lock towards Ricky, at Croxley there are numerous offside orange buoys.

 

Are these placed over sunken obstructions deliberately placed on the offside (to discourage mooring) or are they just chained/affixed to the canal bottom.

NB I have a mooring and am not interested in plotting up on the moor.

They are no mooring buoys. There have been many boats that have moored there over the years. The buoys were put there by bw about 6 or 7 years ago when boats were moved on. The used to be equally spaced but people have moved them into clumps over time!

they say no mooring on them, or they used to, they were an effort to stop boaty squatters on the common there.
