  1. I believe that it is the common understanding that you can help yourself The logs that are generally left behind are willow so have no value. The contractors that cut the trees do not want the hassle of removing the logs so leave them for the boaters.
  2. The marina has a black cat. See Ben who works at the marina, but I bet it's that one
  3. Roydon? No idea about costs or availability http://www.roydonmarinavillage.co.uk/marina.html

OK might be a bit wrong, but loosen the higher hose on the calorifer as the air rises , no need to clamp any hoses as your not undoing anything fully.just loosen them slowly.

You need to find the pipe that is the flow from the Webasto, where this enters the calorifer, loosen off the fittings and let the air out, the engine is heating OK, so leave this pipe run alone. A small amount of air in the coil can have a big effect. Ben
  6. What you need to do is knit a 120v to 240v . leave it and buy the right one at a more expensive price!!
  7. I thought that was what you said. And I kindly accept the offer of you buying me a new boat, thankyou Mark
  8. All it takes is Is you or a neighbour to spill a bit of diesel and your blacking can be compromised. Your boat might be protected, but I think I'm right in saying that if adjacent boats have no protection, then this can have an effect on your hull.
  9. Laurence. I know that you have been involved for far longer than I was, but as everyone says we are custodians not owners, the boats will always be part of our lives, but we will always be in there history. Just think no more blacking, etc I hope one day to own another boat as I'm sure you do, even with your recent experience. Good luck in the future.
  10. I know someone mentioned it the other day, but BBC 1 Canals the making of a nation. Now on Hello MIKE, very professional!
  11. Bodmin took 2 to 3 weeks Banstead all money transferred within 24 hours of offer, paperwork signed 4 days later!!! It can be quicker than you are ready for, but better that than months and ,months of waiting
  12. I may be wrong, but I thought that Sentinel was built to break ice? At least I'm sure that's what the current owner told me some year back?
  13. We've always used Apolloduck. One off payment if you want a featured advert with more than one photo, Free (I think) if you only want one photo. Most people check out the duck regularly, even if not in the market for a boat, but are just interested about whats for sale
  14. you ought to buy some Jerry cans. The skins on drums could get punctured to easily But if i do use drums, a bass drum, or a nice set of congos are best!!
  15. I'm also at a school and have used the vinyl method, cut in Technology dept, worth an ask? Good luck with it
  16. The two easiest ways would be Either get a screen printer to make a screen and then the image can be applied as many times as you want. Or have the negative of you image cut in vinyl stick this onto the canvas then sponge paint (to give that old effect) or spray paint, The vinyl solution shouldn't be to hard to get and any sign makers should be able to supply it from your image.
  17. So Did I. Even with the pair, I'd always close the gates Think that its just easy for people to use the leave gates open argument, I see it as lazy as would CRT (Run for cover)
  18. Did kriss take advantage to the 5 months of winter mooring that he could have bought? If you were stuck, surely 5 months mooring at the reasonable price would have been a good idea, and taken the heat off a bit! Why not just untie the boat every day and drift, my boats moved great distances by themselves when the pins pulled out.
  19. Move? Or just write on a scrap bit of paper engine broken awaiting a mechanic, isnt that what other cm'ers do!
  20. His name is Mike. He is the proud new owner of Banstead. Runs his own trip boat in Little Venice and also works on Jason.
  21. I'm not sure that you have any idea of the cost of London moorings! If you are looking at a cheap way of building your dream, to own your own place and live in London, good luck to you. You might be able to build the accommodation and the hull for X amount of money, but the mooring will cost so much more, you'll wish you never bothered. You only have to look at some of the posts on here with regards to the way the CaRT auction moorings have rocketed over the past few years. Boating is not what it was. We just left our mooring of 6 years, We paid CaRT £120 a month and the land owners (Well actually they lease the land from CaRT on a long term lease that's attached to the property deeds for around £270 a year!) They were paid £250 a month, Not a bad deal really, considering we had 2 full length boats. On handing in our notice, our landlords told us that they were just about to increase our rent to £795 a month!!!!!!!!! No shore line, no water, no rubbish or Elsan disposal, no address, Oh and we built the mooring, there was nothing there before we took it over. Sorry for sounding negative, but boating has changed in recent years, certainly in the South, its becoming an expensive way of life that like a lot of things makes the rich richer and the poor poorer. But good luck! Oh and if you try Peter X's suggestion
  22. No idea why or when that popped back up! I remember at the time it sold very quickly as most Royalty class seem to do.
