Our old favourite Narrowboat World has just reported on a new marina being planned on the South Oxford canal near Kidlington. This has been in the planning for some years as an archaeological evaluation was carried out in 2009.

Full details of the marina are available at https://www.waterways.org.uk/oxfordshire/pdfs/yarnton_marina_design_and_access

IIRC It is likely a reincarnation of a plan put foward some years ago by a famliy firm based on the lower Thames. After spending a whole load of cash (so they told me), the whole thing was thrown out because there was some Canadian "lesser spotter bladderwort" rare species (it should not have survived crossing the Pond...) which benighted idiot felt was deserving of being preserved.

More likely OCC finding an excuse for rejection.

OCC are anti anything to do with boating, which is a pity (or PITA) because the Thames is much underused and is only one lock away (The Oxfor canal is heavily used so it would not be a negotiating point).

Well, I've just looked at both OCC's and Cherwell's planning site and I can't find any application. Both counclis seem more concerned with overhanging trees and the like, rather than any large scale project....
