I have copies of some wartime correspondence from when the Navy sent a couple of boats over the L&LC. There were several complaints from carriers on the canal, and at least two boatyards had their side slips flooded by the wash as the boats passed. The wash almost closed the power station at Nelson as well, so I think I can say that naval vessels were not really appreciated by those who worked on the canal.
