I would not have thought so, but best to contact the manufacturer of your intended blacking product for the full SP It made little or no visible difference to mine under similar circumstances, but I won't really know until she's craned out for the next blacking. It's wear and tear, and a general soaking and coverage in weeds and "barnacles" that tends to make it fall off.
