Theo
I generally use Nicholsons but they don't do a guide for the Fens. Can anyone recommend a good one? Nick

Nick Nicholsons did do a guide to the fens a few years ago, got mine through Abe books. Tim
classicstove
The Middle Level Commissioners produce a very good leaflet that shows all that is navigable and the bridge heights I'm sure if you gave them a ring they would sent you a copy or both Salters Lode and Stanground Sluice have them to give boats passing through
Scotty
The Middle Level Commissioners produce a very good leaflet that shows all that is navigable and the bridge heights You can download the leaflet and map from their website: http://www.middlelevel.gov.uk/navigation-documents.aspx http://www.middlelevel.gov.uk/map.aspx There is a spiral bound map available by Imray called Fenland Waterways, but it doesn't compare with a Nicholsons Guide

DaveG
Bear in mind that bridge clearance will vary with the fluctuating water level - the tightest is the town bridge in Upwell/Outwell which can be a close shave at the best of times and is higher at one end than the other. Don't attempt the Twenty Foot River as the bridge marked on the map "Low Bridge" is impassable for anything other than a canoe or open rowboat. starman
Imray do a Guide for the Middle Level (though a few of the bridges are missing - including a very low one en route to Ramsey!). They also do one for the Great Ouse and tributaries. Both have maps, boating details and the usual local info, history etc. Personally I don't think they are as good as Nicholsons but they're all we've got.
