The Golden Age of Canals is on NOW BBC4

Good proggy - saw it earlier in the week. Lots of previously-not-seen footage. Bits about Cressy and Rolt, but without the juicy parts.

Looking forward to seeing section on Hostel Boats on the Llangollen Canal features my Dad, Pat Saunders, who owned the boat(s), and founded the holiday company, Hostel Boats Ltd and Waterway Projects Ltd. Mum was the "galley slave". Dad told me that I was conceived on the Llangollen Canal a couple of years before the film was made, and showed me the spot, when I was a teenager. The Horse was George, who I remember. Dad had three other boats I remember, Firebrand, a widebeam, Fellowship, and Mistress Mine. There were pothers, but I don't remember their names. He had them moored at the Guns Mouth, at the junction of the River Wey and the Wey Arun canal, at Shalford, just outside Guildford, during most of the 1960's.

I would love to chat / message with anyone who remembers my Dad.
