Fire crews pump out barge at Aspley Marina

AN unlucky barge enthusiast awoke to find his boat filling with water.

 

The self-employed man was moored near the University of Huddersfield, off Firth Street.

 

He awoke at 5.45am on Tuesday to find the engine compartment flooded and the living quarters filling up.

 

Fire crews from Huddersfield attended the boat, which the man had just rented.

 

They spent about an hour pumping water from the boat until the man was able to buy a plug to stop the leak.
