Which oil to use in a Lister STW2 ?

Featured Posts

Thanks for the reply :-) is there an oil filter fitted to the stw2, as i cant see on one mine?

Keith

Some STW2's did have either a replacement "purolator" paper filter..others had the later " spin on" canister filter ..whilst the majority had no filter fitted !

Easiest way to check is look on the crankcase door there will either be a filter assy or a round blanking plug fitted ( Aprox 2 1/4" diameter)

If you do not have the filter fitted don't worry ..regular oil changes will keep it running sweet !

ive just had a quick look and theirs just a blanking plug fitted, so its got no filter at all ? not even a fine gauze filter? are the tolerances that large that any bits of metal can freely circulate with no problems

British engineering at it's finest...

(a design studio (shed) in a British Motorcycle Manufactors...

- Where shall we position the oil filter?

- What do you need an oil filter for, that just complicates the design.

- But how are we going to keep the oil clean?

- No need, we will design the crank case to a precise tolerance, to allow the oil to drain before it breaks down.
