Don't know but we always moor with small wheels floating between boat and piling, if it does have any effect I instinctively feel the effect reduces considerably with several inches clearance. Given the state of the southern Oxford Canal at Cropredy this week, it would be more useful to have small wheels between the boat and the bottom.
