What are the best pubs for food along the Shropie between Gnosall and Chester?

And where are good places to buy raw ingredients - butchers, bakers, farmers' markets etc.

Thanks

Nantwich, basically all of it. Though you've missed the annual food festival, there are still a number of good food shops. Good butcher in Audlem as well. Splendid pub at Bunbury. Dysart arms. Properly good, but it's a little bit of a walk from the canal and you pay for the quality.

There is NO food at the Anchor at High Offley, but if you read your licence carefully, you'll note you are still contractually obliged to stop there, 'cos it's unique.

The last two times I have called at the Shady Oak just north of Beeston I have been pleasantly surpried by the food on offer, but please remember we are talking pubs, not gourmet restaurants.

There used to be a good market at Beeston, I think on a wednesday, but I have no recent experience of it.
