It's probably out of print now, but my favourite cookery book ever is Cooking in a bedsitter by Katharine Whitehorn. It has a great section on what utensils to own, and I think the advice in it transfers really well to living on boats. And how many cookery books have a chapter on seduction?

 

Just make sure whatever you buy is good quality.

Just spotted Tescos do an own-brand 190 watt Slow Cooker (3.3 litre capacity) for a tenner ... think I'll give it a go, unless anyone has any words of caution ?

Yeah but the annoying griddle things burns bits into the grooves which is a fag to clean......and have you tried frying eggs in grooves?
