Batteries (again...)

With what size and type of charger? Or with an alternator? What size alternator?

For charge acceptance it doesn't matter, it's only what the battery can safely accept.

Once there is a reasonable worst case figure, it gives some idea of alternator/charger sizing and charge times that will cover say 70% of cases.

For the other 30% the charge times will be a bit longer than expected.

cheers,

Pete.

OK!!! now we're talkin-I honestly haven't seen/heard/considered/dreamt up etc. anything like this before so I definately gleened some good info-thanks! But I've since modified the idea a bit to incorporate an Octopus legs... with DIODES!

what do you reckon to this?

Pointless? Disaster waiting to happen? or a breakthrough? haha - The alternator would see them as individual batteries - the distribution/load would see them as a whole bunch of availble energy (very technical I know!) but they would never 'see' each other... this is the bit I can't get my head around - would this provide any benefit?

Thinking about this, by replacing each pair of diodes with a MOSFET switch, plus a good dollop of microelectronics, it could be a good way of balancing batteries, plus a lot more

cheers,

Pete.
