grandunion5
Hi there. Is it a good idea to fuse the positive wire going from the starter battery to the starter solenoid? And if yes, what sort of amps should it be? Thanks Marc
Chris Pink
It's not standard practice but it is good practice and it would be a mega fuse or suchlike in the region of 4-500A - you will be probably using somewhere around 300A to turn the starter. Mind whether a fuse would prevent a fire started by a wiring fault that passed that kind of current is debatable (and probably will be).

Think my car has around 30-40 amp fuse for solenoid.

I read it the same as you did Chris. Otherwise the OP would almost certainly said from the ignition switch to battery.
grandunion5
Thanks for the replies. I am the one who made a mistake as I should have said starter motor indeed. Fuses to the ignition key are in place in the engine loom. Marc
