New Pump no hot water :-(

Ok here's one for you techies!

 

I have a calorifier that heats off the engine and also the Gas boiler and an immersion heater.

 

When we were away our water pump died, I replaced it with another one (slightly more powerful) and all is working fine, except we can't get any hot water. The water comes out of the taps, no problem, but its not hot.

 

It all used to work before this problem with the pump. The only thing I can think is that there is not enough water in the tank, however I have opened the valve on the top of the tank and there was water flowing out of the side of the boat.

 

If any one can help I really need it.

when the old pump packed in did the engine overheat? if so the thermostat may be stuck open and /or the new pump is pushing the water round to fast and not letting it heat up before it gets cooles again by the skin tank

Not enough information, Richard thought you meant the engine pump, I was unsure whether the radiator circ. or fresh water pump !

Hi Guys

 

It was the fresh water pump, in fact, I found this valve on the top of the boiler, opened it, after about 1/2 hour water started coming out of the side of the boat, closed it. Not a problem. Now we have hot water and quite a clean family!

It sounds as though you had an airlock in the system. Glad it's sorted and that you are clean again!
