RADIO PROGRAMME GUESTS

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for boaters from Birmingham who would be interested in joining me some evenings on the new Birmingham City University Scratch Radio station which will be starting broadcasting shortly.I thought it would be a nice idea if I could get some of my fellow boaters to come along sometimes to talk about their interests,their lives,play some good music & have some fun.

It's expected to be up & running from the end of February/early March & at this stage I'd like to get an idea of what interest (if any) there may be out there.I think we're a pretty interesting,diverse bunch of people who can more than hold their own over the airwaves.

I only got involved myself by chance but so far this 52 year old boat dweller has been very much welcomed by all the people involved at the University.It's going out as a community station & I think they'd be more than happy that we'd contribute.

So,any thoughts,any volunteers,any suggestions are all welcome.

I'm midlands based, long time boater (since '62) earn a crust from signwriting and trad decoration of boatsand I used to produce and present on local commercial radio a long time ago. You're the first of the victims...sorry,I think I spelled volunteers wrong there.

With your skills & background they'll probably throw me out & hang on to you for dear life (my technical know-how could be described as non-existant).

Now that you've broken the ice I'm expecting great things,but Plan B still involves press-ganging & I'm not ready to abandon it at this early stage.

Hee hee, this is getting better & better.Someone who might run off at the mouth & detract attention from the fact that I lost the plot years ago on this talking to other people thing......Well, that clinches it for me.

Hi Sue,

A mere suggestion of interest is a firm handshake & a binding contract in my book, so I'm taking that as a definite yes from you.

This is starting to look like it's actually coming together.

I'll be in contact to keep you up to date on details as I get them Sue, & we'll get a schedule of sorts together that suits people.

Now, Chris, who is Phylis, & would I know them? Bear in mind that athough I might know who someone is by sight, I rarely if ever know what their name is. I knew my hermit-like, unsociable existance would come back to haunt me one day. If Phylis is proving to be reluctant, remember that much can be accomplished with a packet of crisps & gaffa tape, so keep me up to date on this one .
