Odana
Very impressive photo! Looks close enough to embellish a tale of how you nearly got mown down.... had to be rescued by the photographer... lucky to be alive .... etc. Give it an hour or two's working up and you might be able to flog the 'story' to a tabloid and make your millions! ChrisPy
Reminds me of an event when I was crewing a small yacht crossing the English Channel between Jersey and Devon in the 60s. About 2am there was a disturbance about a hundred metres behind the boat, it looked like a whale coming up. Then a submarine surfaced at fair speed, crossing our wake, and slipped off into the distance. The charts said something to the effect of 'DANGER - submarine exercise area'. Probably still do. Yeh - right! Occupying the shipping lanes over a huge area of the Channel. And if they hit you then it's your fault 'cos you should have kept a better watch. A submarine would never see the navigation lights of a small yacht through the periscope (even if they were looking) in anything other than perfect conditions. Tim Lewis
Well thats new, ......What happend to the Ernest bevin????? Edited to add....dcid they have both ferries running last week due to the BTSA being closed? The Woolwich Ferry runs a two boat service as a matter of course, it only tends to run a single boat at weekends. There are actually three boats, the Ernest Bevin, John Burns, and James Newman. Dominic M
Lucky escape - according to the large warning sign beneath the bridge Boris Johnson was steering. That's all you want isn't it - the mayor of Trumpton bearing down on you at 14 knots. Or so Petronella Wyatt claimed.
