BRIDGEWATER CANAL - Reciprocal Arrangement British Waterways are to extend (for a limited period only) the reciprocal arrangement for Bridgewater licence holders. Boat owners will be aware that the current reciprocal arrangement between the Company and British Waterways permits Bridgewater licence holders to cruise as far as Burscough on the Leeds and Liverpool canal without further charge for periods not exceeding seven days. The reciprocal limit is to be extended to include the section of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal between Burscough and the Liverpool Link with effect from the 1st January 2009 until 31st December 2013. The Liverpool link is due to open in early 2009 and will be available to pleasure craft following its official opening. A further notice will be issued in early 2009 to confirm availability of the new link. Should you require further information please do not hesitate to contact the Company. Pie Eater
Following a request from the AWCC NW region Bridgewater licence holders can now cruise as far as the Liverpool Link for 14 days. (it used to be 7 days). Good news for anyone going - instead of stopping for 1 or 2 nights you now have more time to see the city. Steve
