BigRoj
Knew I'd find it eventually. Found a Millers oil which is a CC grade, a 20w/50, but my connection went tits up as I was loading it, and now 'tis lost. However, I found a Castrol product, in production, which is a API-CC grade. http://129.35.64.91/bpglis/lubtds.nsf/tech...04?OpenDocument And here is where it can be purchased, with a guide price too. http://www.ar-sheldon.com/acatalog/Castrol..._Gear_Oils.html
Nickhlx
For oils of lower than "state of the art" ratings, consider motorcycle oils... We are positively steered towards oils of lower ratings, as too "good" an oil will usually cause the clutch to slip, so we have to get "motorcycle oils" with ratings of e.g. no better than SG..., part synthetic at best etc... whilst the industry is now up to ? SL I think. Morris oils are another recommended manufacturer and I am also fairly sure "classic" car oils are supplied Obviously the above is mainly related to petrol engines, but the principles may well apply. Nick S in the API rating relates to petrol (spirit) engines (or LPG), C relates to diesel (compression). Motorcycle oils should be used where a wet clutch is in operation, as modern car engine oils have friction modifiers which will make a wet clutch slip. (A lot of motorcycles use a wet clutch, which, as it's name implies, runs in the engine/gearbox oil). Isuzu were owned at one point by GM, don't know if they still are. Richard T
Millers do an API CC oil. It is about the same price as Daytona from B&Q. Delivery is free on orders of over £50 so I bought a 25 litre drum - we do 800plus hours per year so use about 20 litres in a year. It was delivered quickly and to an address which was not my credit card one. Forget Halfords but good motor factors can get it. Comma also do a suitable oil.
