AndrewV
Hi! New to this forum and to engines. Trying to clean up wires and rewire BMC1.8 engine. Have positive wire from battery connected to solenoid, and negative - to starter motor (changed them to new ones) Do i need additional battery negative wire connection to engine block (ground)? (was not able to locate such wire). If yes, maybe someone can suggest - where it should be attached on engine?
Tracy D'arth
Any large bolt/nut on the engine block close to the starter motor, back to the battery negative terminals and to the hull close by on a separate bolt from the mains land line earth if there is one. Use 25mm2 cable as a minimum. 35mm2 better. Edited September 26, 2023 by Tracy D'arth
Tony Brooks
Often connected to an engine bed rather than the actual hull on a steel boat.
AndrewV
Thanks for hints! Will get proper size cables and will modify current wiring during next days.
