Aston lock T&M

A lady working the lock a few boats ahead of us has just fallen in and hurt her back. Her partner went in to get her out. Ambulance, fire & police in attendance.

The injured party is on her way to hospital and the backlog of boats is now cleared. I hope she is soon back in her feet.

Have we just met?

 

I was behind the boat concerned. As I arrived the lady was in the water just below the lock and someone - a passing cyclist I think - was in the water to support and comfort her. Paramedics arrived moments later quickly followed by fire service and ambulance crew.

 

From what her husband said she had fallen from the lockside into the empty lock after preparing it, hit her head and was unconscious on entering the water.

 

A very serious incident and hopefully she will be OK. Husband has put the boat into Aston marina so he can get to hospital. He seemed OK but I think it will hit him later.

Just to add this was Aston-by-Stone lock. I think there’s an Aston-on-Trent lock on the T&M too.

Yes we must have done. We were the green boat behind the two historic boats locking down. Safe onward travels.
