I may well have been the Diggle feeder. Feeders are interesting things legally, as the rules governing them are dependant totally on the act of Parliament which allowed them to be created. Some the trust have full right of access along the banks and control over the whole structure and its environ, which includes  depending on the act so many feet on either side of said feeder. Others they purely have the right to have a flow of water pass over someones land, and no right of access. I believe it is a legal minefield, with all sorts of arrangements, and custom and practice set up over the years.
They are also very very varied in structure. The feeder coming from Winterburn is in cast iron pipe all the way and the pipe slowly decreases in size as it drops form Winterburn so that a constant flow rate is achieved. So are just open channels, some are(were/will be) canals The wendover Branch. Some have long culverts going under huge hills the old feeder for the Rochdale summit from Hollingworth Lake for example has a sough under a  very big hill just short of 1km long

We are not talking about little structures either. Some of you may know Killington Water services on the Southbound M6 in the eastern lake district North of Kendal. The lake here is a Trust reservoir and its a long way down the M6 to the next Junction where the feeder from the Reservoir enters the Upper reaches of the Lancaster canal, at Crooklands and then even further till the water reaches the open section of the Lancaster at Tewitfield  which again is right along side the M6  where it passes under the A6070. Takes 10mins by car.
