Pav
Hi everyone, Is a boats values affected much by the stated year they are registered? Yes I know if we are talking about a few years, then yes, obviously, it will be. But with cars for example, the difference between say a December 2006 and a January 2007 model, can make a difference to the value, even though it may only be a matter of a few days between registering the vehicles. The reason I ask is that I should hopefully tbe taking delivery of my narrowboat next month, December 2007. Being the last month of the year, would it be beneficial to defer registering it until January 2008 Many thanks, Pav.

Whilst the age of a second hand boat comes into the equtiaon for second hand sale, a whole range of other cosiderations also come into play, who was the builder? who did the fitout? what engine does it have? what condition is it in? etc. etc.

Machpoint005
Agreed - no! A good, well-looked-after 1995 boat will be worth more than an identical, but badly maintained, 1998 boat, for example. What's more, it will sell more quickly.
