  1. There is of course a simple and clear way to end this debate. If we are to ensure that no human being ever falls into a canal and drowns ever again then we must drain out all the water and fill them all in. After all a human life is far more impotant than dicking around in boats. The perfect H&S solution. Wouldn't you agree ???????????????
  2. It was indeed a tragic accident. Unfortunately the word accident will soon be lost to the human language. There is no such thing apparently anymore and someone or something always has to be to blame. Someone has to be seen to do something then all will be right with the World again and Karma (no pun intended) will be restored.
  3. Sounds gud to me although shouldnt that read testicles? after all we are English dont you know.
  4. Cant help wondering if in 100 years time they'll be showing the the way boats used to cruise along the now abandoned and silted up stinking ditches? Perhaps someone will be able to recall their father telling them boats even used to cruise for pleasure. Still lets not be morbid on the day of the Royal Wedding eh? Hands up all them who bought a comemerative mug?
  5. Couldn't have died by drowning. You need wheels on your boat to get along there.
  6. I'm a local myself and put simply, dont do it. Etruria is around the corner on the Trent and Mersey just before you enter the Caldon and is much safer.
  7. Now now Carl thats very naughty. Please play good or I will have to confiscate your boat for the remainder of the season.
  8. Couldnt agree more I'm sure many of the forum members recieve care in the boating community. Through no fault of their own they do not have the intelligence of their land going counterparts. Their simple way of life and the utterley neglectful way they squander their money by pouring it into a never ending quest to get the perfect boat is shameful but we should not judge them. If there are any boaters out there currently recieving care in the community I urge you to come together to form a union and fight against this deplorable act of .......... well whatever it is a deplorable act off anyway. Form a Brown Bus society now!
  9. I always found boating go from one extreme to another over the years. One trip all goes well and its fantastic. Next time can be full of problems and very stressful. If your a man at the helm the secret is to have a good woman behind you with a calming nature. If your a woman at the helm - shouldn't you be washing some dishes or making the bed or sumut useful
  10. There is a chandler on the canal side at Stone and a garage at the rear. You should be able to get help there.
  11. Cheers mate. Do you want these condoms back? they are past their expiry date but it is a full packet so just thought I'd ask.
  12. If you want to locate its exact location. Have you tried ringing it and watch for the light to come on
  13. Unable to remember the number unfortunately. Does the Jim Shead website get updated as boats change their identity over the years? i.e. does BW keep him updated. (just checked it out and Milli had the same number so does seem to be the same boat) Hedgehog came to me as Milli and I changed the name. It was powered by a crackin new 10hp Honda engine. God could it make some waves (at 4mph of course) I sold her to a chap down south who in turn sold her on and think she went on the Thames. Always regretted selling it and have many happy memories of my times with it. OK didnt have the comfort of the narrowboats ive owned but we did manage a fantastic week up the Macc, the peak forest and Bugsworth basin. Only dissapointment was the price of food in the Navigation Inn. We opted to eat on the boat instead and just settled for a pint.
  14. Anyone seen my old cruiser on their travels? Its not easily forgotten once seen. Would love to know where it ended up or even if its still afloat.
  15. Boaters do tend to lend themselves to either of two groups, and we all know someone who fits the above description dont we???????
  16. Yep its a no-brainer. God helps those who help themselves. Give it to Dan for the benefit of all who use this forum for so much free help and advice.
  17. It has been mentioned on here many times that a lot of people started out on the canals in a small fibreglass cruiser. These cruisers were I believe originally built for river use but prooved pretty robust and more than capeable of withstanding the rough and tumble of the canal locks amd provided a cheap start into boating. Although many good examples of Dawncrafts, Normans, Freemans etc still grace our canals today, my question is this - Are there any outfits out there now who are making small narrow beam fibreglass cruisers that may grace the canals in 30 - 40 yrs time when very few of todays cruisers will be left afloat?
  18. If its boat porn we're talking about here then try to see them more as tits than fenders (well ive been with a few women and you cant tell the bloody difference to be honest)
  19. Hard to tell on that small picture. Could be dog Pi**

  23. Magic, brings back so many happy memories for me. What news on the breach? will it be repaired or will that section become another dry length due to funds? Remember Froghall to Uttoxeter?
