Looking for a bit of help,  ideally is there anyone who would hire for a one-way transit of the canal, or failing that I  could hire from somewhere in the middle, then go to leeds, back to liverpool then  return the boat to middle.   ( Would plan to do towards end of September). Do people do private hire, or is it all through hire companies ??

How long does it take to do from one end to other, looking at cruising for say 6hrs per day

The sugar boats for Tate and Lyle used to do it with a 2 man crew in 54 hours one old boat man assured me back in the 1980s when we were discussing closing lock gates and opening them with the boat.

Clearly you could hire from one the hire companies on the L&L and go one way to the end and then back the other way, but you're going to need to hire for three weeks to do the full length.

Another alternative would be a one way hire from Shire Cruisers in Sowerby Bridge on the Rochdale/Aire & Calder to Barnoldswick on the L&L, either via Leeds or Manchester.

You can do a ring, but Shire Cruisers offer one-way trips as well, between Sowerby Bridge and Barnoldswick, either via Leeds or more adventurously via the Huddersfield or Rochdale and Manchester to Barnoldswick.
