Unusual Views of our waterways

While driving through Birmingham the other week my eye was caught by the unusual lighting

under the viaduct over the Farmers Bridge flight.

Amazing how the boats next to these three and the ones in the background don't appear to have been touched at all. I think one needs to look at this photo with a pinch of salt!!!

I think the picture is legit.

 

At a guess, the iced-up boats are moored up against a pier or similar structure, and all of the ice is a result of spray coming over from the other side. Since the other boats appear to be moored in a more sheltered spot, it's not surprising that they've been unaffected. I've seen similar results obtained by spraying water from a hose over a car on a very cold night.
