Birthdays

When I joined the forum in 2008 and for a long time members' birthdays were prominent on the home page and birthday threads were regular. Alas no more. Very occasionally someone who personally knows it's someone's birthday will post a greeting, but that is very rare.

I do feel the forum is poorer without this personal interaction.

Any chance there's a tweak so we can see birthdays again?

Hi,

 

It was disabled as a precaution back when GDPR came about. I will revisit the rules in regards to this and if it's not an issue we can enable it

I have to say that I always refuse to put my real date of birth on anything online except where necessary on government/official sites, on the grounds that it is information which could assist anyone trying to steal my identity. For the same reason I don't post my mother's maiden name, the name of my first pet or other similar info either.
