Distributor issue?

Featured Posts

On our travels, been checking the oil etc and noticed the battery reader was showing v. low charge, despite 7 hrs cruising. Then noticed a lose blue wire coming from the distributor but not plugged in and wondered if this was the issue. Any thoughts?

Looks like an Isuzu engine. The W terminal is for a rev counter. The blue/Yellow wire would go to the rev counter so I suspect you don't have one. Yellow and Black to the battery indicator light which should be on when you switch the ingnition on and then go out when charging ie when engine running. Should be about 14v when running.

Check belt for looseness and check voltmeter moves up when running. If below about 12.5 when running I think you have abattery fault. Hope this helps.

OK so it looks like an earth return A 127 and unless you have a rev counter it seems all the wires are in place.  although what that thin red wire is I have no idea. I do wonder if it once has some sort of advanced controller fitted and the thin red and blue wires are no redundant.

Please be more specific about what the "battery reader"  actually is. My guess is it might be a voltmeter, possibly a "toy" boy racer car one. It would help to know the battery voltage readings after a few hours running with the engine revving, upon shut down     and the following morning (in the dark if you have solar. Without that info we can not even begin to help.
