Just to be awkward.

A Smartguage creates the State of Charge, by comparing the rate of change of voltage, over time.

Does the volt meter need to be totally correct, or would the same result be obtained by a meter that was consistently different over its range?

I guess that the only person to know would be Gibbo.

Reasonably correct, but not super-correct. But when some SG’s were being sold 0.3v out, that was far too much error.

Your BM1 would suggest that you have 0.5 amps charge at 13.7 volts.

The MT50 would suggest that you have 5.4 amps charge at 13.8v

Questions ????????

None. The 0.5A is that going into the battery. The 5.4A is that coming out of the solar. The difference, obviously, is that being consumed by the boat’s services.

The 0.1v difference is a combination of gauge error and wiring voltage drop.

Thanks for confirming my own thoughts Nick.

I’ll take another pic next week to include the indicated SG voltage for a more useful 3 way comparison.
