Paul,
The wind generator on the boat I was on before my current one was secured this way:
The wind generator shorter pole was inserted into the top of a scaffold pole (8ft) and secured with a bolt going through it.
Then, on the roof of the boat were 2 L shaped solid peices of metal. The bottom bit of the L was bolted to the roof, and the side bit of the L was quite high (a foot maybe if that), with holes in (a bit like a piece of meccano) and the scaffold pole was secured to the L's on either side of it with a bolt going through the L's and the Pole. There were I think 2 of these I higher up and one lower down to secure it. This was done in such a way that the scaffold pole could now fold down onto the boat when cruising or be put up when not.
There was a tripod of very strong wire to hold the boat. Two were fixed firmly, and the third could be undone to lower the pole when cruising or pulled up to bolt to the roof of the boat when not.
Thats how its done. I have seen some generators put up which don't have the height and thus don't seem to be as efficient.
Does that make sense?
I see - its all sorted! Excellent!!!! Well done.
