  1. God, I susspect your a train spotter? You seem to know your stuff God help you Sorry couldn`t resist
  2. Is it the paint though, or the painter? Thats what I`d like to know. I ve seen boats on the cut with painted sides like glass, just how do they get it?

  4. I doubt theres many that dont like these old trains, it would be great to bring at least a few of them back into proper service, or why not a newer version perhaps, hey maybe they could use smokeless fuel I saw the Royal train pass by where I live about a year ago and wow isn`t it shiney? This has just reminded me too, of a time I saw the Royal train years ago, at the time of the investiture of the Prince of Wales it actually parked for the night right opposite my bedroom window in sideings, so I suppose I could say I used to have royal neighbours, I was only a lad but I`m sure this was steam, my memory fails me.
  5. I just thought I`d let you know that as a gesture of good faith, I have deleted my Blog, (for the time being) which was rather scatheing to my builder as some of you may know, fortunately it wasn`t actually looking like that for any great lenght of time as I had intended him to think, it was only up and running for a short time, so hopefully no damage done, I`m not out to ruin anyone unless of course they try to ruin me. I hope I have demonstrated that I am a very determined person. Even though I never actually bought it to your attention in the first place. I am beginning to get very frustrated spending money after money, on greedy lawyers, and I do want it back so lets hope now I`ve got my builders attention I will keep it, and my new Blogg will be a glowing report for him. Can I say thanks to Phill and Garry especially, for at least trying to help. I know there was only good intent, and to all others that do support me thanks as well, it is appreciated honest. However, I do have problems and I do want them sorting to MY satisfaction, and I do have lawyers working, and I do hope now, that my builder doesn`t slouch back in his chair and say "phew, problem sorted", because mine are not, I also hope he will be as decent as I feel have been. I know he aint all bad, it has never been anything personal against him. Web Bloggs can be set up in seconds, not one but 100`s can be set up, and they can be devastateing, and in my opinion theres not a lot anyone can do about them. I prey now that I am not seen by him to be backing down in my plight for help. This forum is a great place too especially if all does end well for me, it will have been down, in part to it Cheers
  6. If So you believe these stories too now? Do you see how I have been taken in ? Good quality work probably does takes longer though. I do have estimates for the repairwork you know, and have been told it`s over 3 months work and at a cost of over half the price of the boat, these estimates wont stand for much longer as the work required is getting worse by the day. These people are not my friends plucking figures from the air that suite me. I have two surveys, and who do you want me to listen to? Do you think I should settle for a botch job that just looks ok, or should I expect it to be done properly as it should have been done in the begining so that I can have total piece of mind that I now have a new boat? i/e the bare shell inside reprimed and reisulated, this involves huge ammounts of work, its not just a fit out it`s a strip out and refit out double the work. Or should I settle for him doing just where he can get to easily? Answer these questions as if it were your money ploughed into it please, what would you expect? I dont recall mentioning any of this before someone on here got their noses in my business This is where we differ Will you buy it from me for what I paid please? Look your self how fast he responded to my build Blogg and looking after his own intrests, then compare this to the time taken to look after mine. I think that says it all. Any way this I really hope is the last I will say on the whole subject, although you keep goading me making it hard to ignore. I am going to switch off my pc now and try to stay clear of here, then I`m going to arrange to get my boat out of the water and try not to even think about it again. Untill its out of my life. You will at least all be able to watch and see for your selves just how long this takes to settle.
  7. I take the Bait, Ok this is the last I have to say on this subject and I hope others will now mind their own business, since open forum is not a place to disscuss disputes, especially mine. All of this was brought to your attention by others not by my self. Although this dispute has been going on for quite sometime, as some will know privately, I doubt many of you knew of it at all, and now my boat builder has been informed of my Blogg by some one on this forum. Yes, I have a damning Blogg, but it could so well have been the other way around, had he built it right for me, or been quick to respond to my problems, Theres still time to add to the end of the Blogg, a happy ending. You have seen photos of the worse problems, believe me there are many minor faults too. Take a look at the date today.......Do you see a satisfied customer, who made a complaint in November? What does this tell you? Do you see a happy Mr and Mrs Pirate, with their boat? Why not? I had no option but to instruct lawyers, the builders think that you cant afford them, and they can get away with it, but they better think again in my case. I have NEVER asked my builder to put my faults right. When I instructed lawyers, it was after getting no response from my builder even though, I said I wanted it sorting amicably in 7 days. What can you think other than he simply is not interested, You can only ask them to help you? My builder is now trying to negotiate that it goes back to him to be repaired under warranty, He had 12 months to build it, he reckons it can be fixed in a couple of weeks, funny thing is, he told me he could build it in three months and I waited a year. What would you do? Do you think he would do it as cheaply as he could, after seeing say the pics of the rear hatch runners, in my Blogg, or do you think he would do a quality job? I dont think I am being unreasonable, look at the date. I told my lawyers I am traveling, I dont want to negotiate at £300 a letter and £80 a phone call. I have never mentioned negotiateing or fixing my problems since my notice. My builder negotiates now, I dont. My builder is stringing it out, SO BE IT. Hopefully he`s paying when it comes to court, and never mind his livelyhood, this may cost him his home as well, with my costs , and I have a good Lawyer, unfortunately at a very good price. My builders already lied to his surveyors saying the windows were cut out amongst other things, to my plans before it came in, as you can see from the pics this is just one lie, as it was delivered with no windows cut out, in April 06 and my plans were forwarded in october 05 the year before. I`ve heard hundreds of lies and have evidence of them, Do you know, he told me I will lose money because of 10% depreciation because it`s used and 17.5% Vat and then because it`s a bespoke boat, I will lose money because of this as well, when he buys it back. Cheecky beggar, I better give him it back for nowt, Yet when I was buying it was going to go up by about 10%. He`s not buying it off me second hand. He doesn`t seem to grasp the situation, THE BOAT IS REJECTED AT HIS FULL PRICE, how clear can that be put? Yet he still thinks it`s going back to him for repair. He did have this chance but chose to ignore it so as far as I`m concerned he`s cooked his goose. In a way, it`s good that he`s lied because I can prove otherwise, thank god. That will look good in court, and that`s where it seems to be heading, a waste of nearly £20 000 to lawyers and baristers, he could have just paid me that? Maybe I will lose who knows, I`ll keep you posted. I`m not stupid enough to start somthing I cant finish. I`m a very fair man but not one to be messed about. If I take tablets back to Boots I get my Vat back the lot, So be warned how these builders operate. He says when customers make changes you can never build the boat as good as it should have been.............. I never made any changes. Basically, My builder wants me to take it back to him, he says it will take him 2 weeks to sort, but the funny thing is, he told me it would only take 3 months to build. Besides it would take me a month to get it back. What would you do? If my builder was good, I would be satisfied and I would praise him. F.Y.I, I have today received a mail from my lawyers saying that his lawyers are asking me to remove parts of my Blogg, not sure what parts? or my builder is going to sue me for defamation. My Lawyer works for me and does what I pay him to do, and I told him to check out if I have done wrong and if I have I will put it right,. So, I dont have the builders sympathy, just two fights on my hands now instead of one, and more money to pay out. BUT IT WILL NOT STOP ME, I hope he can afford it. Thats what they are like, because this could cost him his livelyhood, suddenly he`s as fast as a bullet. He doesn`t care that I cant sleep in my bed because of water dripping on me, have you seen the pics of my £1000 mattress at 8 weeks old? That, to date is the fastest I`ve seen my builder move, he`s now actually got a lawyer so at least I hope he is spending as much on them as I am. Selfish or what?? You tell me how they operate. I hope he`s got lots of cash, is all I can say to that, and untill I have been advised differently, my blogg stands, and my lawyers have been informed. He doesn`t even know about other press deals I have pending already. These builders think they can frighten you. Maybe they do you, but they dont me. It`s a Pity he`s not so quick to make me happy, as he is to make me mad, is all I can say to that. Anybody out there think for one minute that I`m worried, THINK AGAIN, you put your money where your mouth is before you speak out, and imagine it`s your hard earned cash thats going down the drain. I sold my house for this boat. There are two sides to every story. Yes one truth, and one lies. You have seen photos in my Blogg, there are hundreds more and much more information than is published and all can be backed up, and it will be just as soon as I get a broadband conection. I have all documental evidence to back my claims up, I also have back up of other disgruntled owners, 3 at the moment, but thats another story. I dont have to prove myself to anyone on here. I would not make up such malicious story. As for slagging off my builder, Nonsense I actually liked him, however, they do say you cant get conned by someone you disslike, I trusted him too. So they want my Blogg gone, well they better beg hard, because threats dont hurt you when you`ve lost so much money as I have. I think folk like Phill who started this thread are not helping things by goading me out, and keeping this builders name at the forefront of everyones minds By Christ I`m sick of this, My boats famous now, and as for hideing my identity as some have suggested, the boat carrys my bloody name in great big letters. So lets give it a rest on Pirates Blogg please, and prey other owners have good boats and I can add some good stuff to it, My Blogg I mean.
  8. Because I was naive and bloody stupid. I have been very fortunate I have a Tyler shell and have met Tim and he knows of all my problems going back over the entire build, (my lawyers had to negotiate with him months before my shell arrived. He also knows that the blame was tried to be pushed onto him for these problems. I have nothing but great respect for Tim and his work and have told him so to his face, he is one of the finest builders out there. I would rather you didn`t discuss this with my builder
  9. Thanks Steve, and very much. Those were my thoughts too, although I didn`t say so before. Perhaps he should wait a little longer before passing judgement, as he has only been on the water with his boat a few weeks, and he has a shell off the builder. My boat was fine for a few weeks. I think I would have had a job to pursued the surveyors of the Three surveys that have been made, to make it all up for me.
  10. I`m not sure these contracts are helpfull in all circumstances and the beall and endall. I for one know, from experience, that even with the guarantee, the builder can wangle his way out of it by saying for instance, "Oh your fires bad" thats down to Bubble or "your washers bad thats down to candy" ect ect so, although you can get things sorted it isnt always as simple as telling your builder as he can wash his hands of it, I would like to think that most builders dont operate like this, but I for one know that some do. Edited to add...I have a contract.............whats it doing for me? except giving me legal right..so long as I can afford it
  11. God I wish my builder thought like this. If he thinks that after spending nearly £100 000, the only thing I am doing while I am sat here week in and week out with my boat rotting around me, is twiddleing my thumbs and making one or two web pages, he would be very very mistaken. I have excellent ideas (apart from my lawyers route), I only wish I was brave enough to tell you about, (they are legal by the way) ready to spring to life, and the longer he makes me wait the harder he`s going to feel it. I totally agree this could have been sorted out within a day or two. I am a reasonably nice and fair man, unfortunately this is seen by some folk as a form of weakness. These problems actually started while I was still in the moorings, and as another contributor to this forum, has said, who also purchased a boat from there, and whom I have spoken to on many occasions he had No knowledge of my problems, (it was simply not any of his business) so I do think I have been very fair up to now keeping it all very quiet. I will say again it was not me who bought this to the attention of this forum
  12. This has happened before on the North Wales coast not so long ago, and the bills for repairs were into the £100`s
  13. Hi Mike Indeed you do and you can ask Phil his oppinion yourself very soon, as I believe he is on his way back to Maesbury Thank you kindly Indeed we were Thank God and lets hope it`s the same when you move away and get a few more weeks of hard winter The Blogg is about my Build only Edited to add Sorry I forgot about the insulation yes it`s the same WHERE IT IS FITTED
  14. No Windows were cut out of steel Hull You really need to read the Blogg more closely, I Agree I wonder if they prepared the sides of the boat for painting?
  15. I dont know, I saw it in this Thread http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php...c=7472&st=0
  16. I notice that my name has been bought up and my build Blogg bought to the attention of this forum, I`d just like to clear a few things up if I may. I have never slagged off my boat builder on this or any other forum, nor do I intend to now, I have never even mentioned that I may have a problem with him. I have always had a build Blog as many of you know and it has always been updated througout the build, I dont see why I should have it any different now just because it might not suit my builder. It is simply my account of the build, make of it what you will, and decide for yourself, the build quality. I know there are other owners on this forum with boats from the same builder, they may or may not have had good boats, best of luck to them, I hope they are happy with theirs, and that it meets all their expectations for the money they paid. I think they will know how long I have been afloat and unfortunately my boat does not meet my expectations after only 10 weeks. When you spend a huge ammount of money as we have, then get the problems we have got, it`s enough to make you cry, and indeed cry my wife has. We bought our boat in good faith and paid up all money promptly and up front, we never haggled and we accepted a few of the mistakes the builder had made, and when we got our boat after waiting over a year we were very excited, relieved and pleased. That was of course untill we decided to set off on our cruise and got the problems we got and the response from the builder that we got. If only my builder was as willing to help us as he was to take our money. Should I leave my Blogg as it was, or update it to as it is now? That was a hard question for me to answer, I may be shooting myself in the foot when it comes to selling, however since I got in touch with my builder on January 1st I am still awaiting a response and these problems are very serious indeed, I have water in the electrics tripping it off for one, and they are not getting any better, they are so serious, I am now having to crane it out and put it on a hardstanding and rent a property out to live in, .and who cares? It is because of this, that now after two months waiting and watching my boat with all my money in it fall apart before my very eyes that I can honestly say that I dont give monkeys F$%k what you or anybody else thinks about my Blogg, however please dont say that I am making it up. It is still costing me mega bucks now, I have paid over £2500 in legal fees to date, then I have a crane to hire and hardstanding to pay for and also a roof over my head to find, this is no joke nor a vendetta. There is mention of another owner on my Blogg, this guy has no internet or pc, but he asked me if I made a Blogg page, could he write his feelings on it, about his boat, I set up the page and he wrote it in his own words, what he felt, it`s nothing what so ever to do with me, other than that, and he has put his own name to it, If I had thought for one minute it would make my Blogg look like a lie I would have removed the link, indeed now I may do exactly that. I have this week met another two disgruntled owners but I never mentioned my Blogg to them, and I`m not telling you lot who they are, but they are out there, however I did learn a lot. Anyway back to this topic, I say a big YES name and shame them, if they can get away with fleecing us then we can get away with returning the favour and theres only one thing you can do to get the problems sorted and that is fork out more money for lawyers, or the builders will just laugh at you, they know it costs mega bucks A New Moto should be, If I`m going down they`re going down with me.
  17. Perhaps it`s simply to help other would be purchasers avoid the same heartache he and his wife have been through, sinking all their hard earned cash into it? and as he may be the sole creditor, even on Bankruptcy his money could be secure....I`m sure he has very good lawyers

  19. Brilliant stuff Quote "we were not attacked by kids,no bricks were thrown,no fishermen shouted abuse" Sorry you missed all the fun though
  20. I think this stuff would be very good, as its quite thick, but get a builder who takes care and pride in his work to fit it correctly, or suffer the consequences

  24. I have seen this from the cross members in the roof before, and worse in the bedroom because of the slope to the rear, it will run along to back of boat, remove the side roof panels and inject foam into the ends of each cross member, then they will be filled with air that should act as a barrier...best of luck
