  1. now i know why i keep seeing coconuts i havent been to coventry but where ever you go you will find youths fooling about, i always have a chat with them ask where nearest shop, pub is etc ive only ever had 1 be really abusive.
  2. It is good to see some sensible replies on this topic, it is not a Police matter as someone suggested. I used to be a Sprayer operator applying pesticides and fertilisers, i have always suffered from asthma ever since i was a child, i have never had a reaction to any chemical or fertiliser im not saying this isnt possible. The one thing that really aggrevates my chest is cigarette smoke. Years ago when animal testing was the norm nicotine, bleach and flouride were more harmful to rats than the most commonly used agricultural pesticides. Nitrates are a problem to water courses due to leaching from the soil, theyre not toxic unless ingested or used in bomb making [nitrogen oxide] modern machines for applying chemicals and fertilisers are very accurate pieces of equipment and chemicals and fertilisers are F expensive so it makes no sense to waste them. All the worst chemicals were banned years ago, the only chemicals that get banned nowadays are done so on environmental reasons traces entering the water courses through leaching, the water companies find them expensive to clean from water. Alot of phosphates enter the water through detergents, but its easier to blame the largest user.
  3. I use Wet Wipes to remove all manner of things, if they work on my little ones bottom they will remove anything.
  4. I occasionally go into B&Q to remind myself how cheap things are elsewhere. I use builders merchants alot for timber but most other stuff I go to Toolstation in Peterborough the staff are very helpful and will let me look at things to see if theyre suitable. As for Oils and engine filters I tend to use Agricultural machinery dealers, good value for money
  5. Hi we have a Stephill SHX 1000 very pleased with it, has a Honda engine and was considerably cheaper than the Honda generator, uses no oil, quiet, simple to operate and service. Company is based at Wellingborough, Northants. The only thing I dont like about it, probably goes for all generarators is that it could do with a sight gauge for the fuel tank.
  6. We have a 1000 watt genny for just a few items the rest of the boat is 12v my main reason for this was to keep things simple, if we wanted loads of electrical appliances we would live in a house. As for the noise issue most modern generators are no louder than a boat engine running to charge the batteries.

    Bow thruster..

The only bow thruster we have is a 3m wooden pole works a treat everytime
  8. Could be worth checking wiring from cut off switch make sure its not shorting anywhere to cut off the engine, other than that check the safety cut off Simon
  9. The good news is you recovered from your symptoms fairly quickly, you maybe unlucky in just having a bad reaction to whatever was being used. Your first port of call should be the farmer it is in his/her interest to supply you with any imformation you require, anyone applying Agricultural pesticides is tested and registered with strict guidelines to follow. Because the weather was hot and calm can often cause more problems than if there was a breeze as the chemical hangs in the air for a prolonged time, Volatilisation i think it is spelt. If anyone is concerned when they see a sprayer working make yourself noticed and talk to the operator.
  10. we stayed in Peterborough for a couple of weeks earlier this year with no problems at all even whilst the Fair was there. The City is well worth a visit.
  11. We home school our children, main reason being the schools attitude towards bullying or lack of it. We do English and Maths but also let the child choose a subject or topic of interest to them, I think everyone learns more if you have a interest in a particular subject. The internet is a great source but libraries and museums will also help. Enjoy!
  12. if living on a boat is something you want to do, then Go For it we did, lifes too short to dream it away. having worked outdoors for a living like myself the winters wont be a problem. just be careful of who you let extract money from your pocket.
  13. we have a Stephill has a honda engine and is cheaper. Company is based in Wellingborough Northants
