  1. Hi T95 Isuzu thorney croft 2001 Prop clear Have just changed gear box but was happening before New fuel filters which I hoped would fix it Foolishly was looking at the top of the bottle not bottom for water in my sample..... So there is a thin layer of water as shown in pic I know you can't see it but gives a sense of ratio Would you empty the tank for that ? Tips on easiest way to separate the water ...? When you say things rattling around were abouts should I be looking? Cheers
  2. Hi I have searched for this topic but sorry if missed it Moving along then power drops and just crawls to alm9st nothing Sometimes fine inreverse sometimes not Somet8mesfine in neutral s9metimesnot Recently refilled fuel Was sugges5ed its water in fuel just syphon some out into a obttle and no sign went to bleed but fuel coming out of bleed screw straight away Any thoughts ? Thanks
  3. Alan de enfield- its been slipping for ages gor a new cone 2020 had it looked at twice when just not responding at all. mechanic has been able to adjust but says teeth are going he didn't say that but that's me hashing his language in my memory It looks like they've gone for good now. Tho breaking news : the lever just came off from were it attaches to the box so that loose connection may have been a big factor? . Tho is slow to shift even if doing by hand missing out the lever. Will re fix lever and try again before forking out either way. Feels like key take aways are 150 is better gear box but big extra spend so do I feel worth the money..... 125 will do the job ? Re cons not worth the risk. Surely a boat with working 150 is worth more than one with a working 125?
  4. Thanks everyone super useful. Am gonna have to borrow either way credit card etc. The 120 been slipping fora while have replaced cone and mechanic as adjusted things a few times for temp improvment saying 'teeth are going' might have rembered the phrase wrong. Now it's seems the 'teeth' have gone. Would a 150 still add to value of boat when it's on a 20 yearold engine ? Cheers Hamish
  5. Hi looks like i'm going to have to get a new gear box....furious........ currently have a prm120. its a 36/38hp iZSuzu thonreycroft. tink was standard early 2000's Liverpool boats to fit a 120. i could replace like with like and get the 125 whihc has replaced the now defunct 120. i just wanted to check that im not being foolish by not fitting the hydraulic 150, i'm aware theres a little adjusting to do to fit them but comrades on here have done it. obvs 125 cheaper but dont want to regret this moment of opportunity i'm a continuous cruiser live aboard. with a small engine is it worth it ? what difference would it make? are the 125's being well liked? am i missing another option? thanks for your time and effort hamish
  6. Hi does anyone live aboard near edinburgh? am i write in saying you cant do it due to legislation form scottish BW i have got to move to edinburgh from london for 9months and was hoping to take my 55ft narrow boat up. i know a truck would need to be used at some point but want to hear form anyone in the boating community there... thanks hamish
  7. Due to illness my friend slash builder can no longer do the job in time I desperately need two waste holes and possibly some mushroom vent and engine room to kitchen holes. Holes may not be the technical term. Its a sail away and I Dont want to risk my hands on such a job holes in a boat doesnt seem right. But vital if any one knows any one either post or pass my number on 07980988737 thank you all x
  8. hope everyone is well i am a fool i know. but am in trickywater as am cruiseing my wonderfull sailaway fro milton keynes to the lea river, east london, tried to run around prop trouble noises lack of steering etc.... so tried to get in the weed hatch and cant. it has a welded metal clamp across the main box, this can be lossened but not removed as no mechanism and there is a pipe from engine to weedhatch that has a spout outside and inside the weed hatch. after much sweat was able to get air between the lid and box but sadly cant work out how to open it as the spout and clamp are in the way. i know this is tricky without seeing it as they are all different. i am stuck in southall at the moment as its a embarrassengily urgent as need to get her into central london tonight i enclose my number 07980988737 i hope this is allowed i checked the guildelines thanks to you all hamish
  9. Hallo all, hope we are all happy and floating. Thanks for al you help last time. So I am about to take delviery of a sailaway 55ft narrow boat. i am going to use council paving slabs. I have been told how many about 44 b my builders but i fear taking off the cuff advice and not knowing what the actual physics of it are. Can any one offer a little sum that will put my rather excited heart to rest. best Hamish I know that it depends on wieght etc and of course what i will be holding on board.....which i cant garuntee just yet tho no washing machine or dishwasher is a cert. The kitchen will be all on one side so i will have to balance that out. best hamish
  10. bottle, big thanks dont worry i am relitavely young but am committed to following the ways of the water-community guide lines make it better for everyone. so gennie is out on your ps you mentioned using both both could i get away with just a inverter if i'm a well behaved ccer h steve, of course ensureing that its dont at the right times, as it would store in the batterys right ? h typo - done at right times
  11. N.B this is a big moment here its my first post, I am about to do up a 55ft sailaway to liveaboard. learning on the job. risky i know but please be gentle with me . I hope this question isnt over worn if so just tell me the name of topic and will come back when i have something more original.. For live aboard power invertor v generator I always meant to keep away from generators due to diesl etc.. however am I being naive? I have recently read that the power is much more reliable clean and eficent from a generator and for my limited budget i will get much more for my money.. is this right or does it just depend on what i ma going to run off it? any pros and cons would be great thank you all for your time
