  1. I have been asked to use 'canalbookshop.co.uk' when quoting (although both versions worked for me yesterday) I have updated my website accordingly HTH ? Chris D
  2. For the record, the book is still available at around a fiver (despite an online book search giving prices from the USA of between £441 and £1185!) from a variety of sources - notably the Canalbookshop.uk at Audlem Mill (who, although currently out of stock, are expecting a delivery 'at the end of the month') and the boatshopbraunston.co.uk at Braunston Bottom Lock, who just told me they received copy(ies) 'a couple of weeks ago'. HTH, Chris D
  3. Just for the record, the Attenborough traffic will be ending in the next couple of months. Most staff will be moving to other jobs within the Cemex. End of an era!
  4. Hi, I don't get here very often (too much to do elsewhere!) but I've been pointed at this topic because I run the Historic Inland Working Boats (HIWB) site at www.hiwb.org.uk which covers not only narrow boats but also all sorts of barges etc in all areas and anything else relevant I can get my hands on. Contributions (text and photos) are always welcome and attributed accordingly. I am on the verge of a major update to add dozens of new photos and other information (including 1960s Trent barge traffic videos) but thought I'd mention it here now as it seems relevant to the discussion. I will also shortly be adding photos etc of the worlds oldest known 'narrow boat' (iron age! ~60'x5' stone carrier) Feel free to link to from other sites and I will also happily link to other relevant sites on request. Cheers, Chris D
  5. Yup, thats me. I still am a great fan of usenet - hence only just enrolling here. These web based thingies are so SLOW in comparison.... Chris D
  6. I have looked into this quite closely and have come to the conclusions mostly at: http://www.deuchars.org.uk/hazlhrst/ HTH Chris D
