  1. Wow - thank you ...now that is a very nice looking boat...Im sure Ive seen her in the past now I can see her here..am I right in thinking she is a little narrower than majority trading boats or is that the angle of the pictures..?
  2. Any pictures guys - or facebook link..? ...missed it this year....cheers
  3. that's why I couldn't find it anywhere cheers
  4. ...yes - I sold to what I thought was her best home rather than the highest bidder...they seemed very pleased on the day but its a shame if they are not so pleased with her now - - they had the benefit of both the pictures here and advice from Trevor who was there on the day so certainly had the best infomation at the time.. She's a lovely little boat and we had some great trips in her in the short time we owned her. I lived in a back cabin for a decade or so and found it very comfortable but without a cross bed, Progress 'es internal layout needed to be substantially changed to fit with our needs and even then, her very narrow gunnels would have made social family boating not practical for us at all but I was sad to see her go... ....we continue to look for the right boat for us tho as one thing Progress did do was get my sons enjoying the actual boating - just not so much in Progress
  5. Im sure she still had this when I visited with a mutual friend of the owner - think? early 90's..
  6. ....and Im sure I will try again in a little while... ...
  7. The deck wasn't any kind of issue for us - only added to her appeal...similarly the engine was something which could be swapped in the future as funds and opportunity allowed ..( for me :) ) her shape is correct at both ends - she is truly beautiful and has a brilliant 'feel' ...these tar boats resonate with me in a way that I cant really explain ...anyway,she needs a couple of things doing to her reasonably quickly - plank on one side and some plating to water line and caulking and tarring plus the stove isn't working - all relatively minor stuff...I offered what I felt was a decent price but I was a long way short of her owners valuation........and my wife stopped me bidding
  8. Tay is a once in a life time boat - to my eye anyway...sadly my offer wasn't accepted...
  9. Is the company making them still in operation..?
  10. Thanks Ian ...if I find any stock anywhere I will let you know
  11. I had one of these when they first came out - were is the best cheapest place to buy them now..? Google isn't helping me today! Cheers Jon
  12. ....life is too precious a thing to be wasted being 'sensible' ..it is for living
  13. ....I skirted very close to that with purchasing Progress : the first time my wife realised it was 'ours' was while on what she thought was a day trip to meet old friends from the canal and the then owners wife congratulated her for buying the boat - it was only her desire to be polite and that we were a fair way from the bank that saved me ! ...its worked out for me as shes enjoyed our boating - just wants a bigger boat now
  14. Nope - that is probably more reflective of your character than mine Billbob - other than the pic I shared where we let a couple of blocks in she seems fine...the work was done to start the catch up of lack of maintenance properly ...and because it is fun to do ..she is now offered for sale because my family want a bigger boat and her sale would help fund that..
  15. I figured you would be the first Laurence ...actually wooden boats respond very well to being live don where they can be aired and kept warm and fussed over - it is the lack of those things which causes them issues..
  16. ..took you guys a few days to find the advert My family are getting the boating bug which is great news and Im very happy about that, but they feel she is a little small for 3 large kids, dogs and adults lol so I lost the family vote and she is being offered for sale to help fund a bigger boat ... .....although Im preeeety sure no one will buy her and I wont loose any sleep over that as she is lovely.. This forum has a reputation for some sharp comments on occasion so play nice guys
  17. I will get some measurements.. There are some big Dutch boats above Brausnton - does anyone know if they boated there or were they craned in..?
  18. Progress is lovely isn't she - and the work Chris does mind bending ..it was the bridge oles that I was particularly interested in guys - Ive been around the cut for a few years so understand - broadly the beam stuff - probably should have been more specific in my original question - which are the tight bridge oles for a 9' wide boat going up the GU and how far could it get..? Cheers
