  2. Would these be the same Corbetts who donated the land at Stourbridge for the hospital named after them? Dave
  3. Just a thought, could you not secure a broom stale in the bow of the boat lined up with the centre of the bow to give you a visual indicator as to where the bow of the boat is? Dave

  5. Have been boat hunting yet again, have seen one that does not have 240v fitout, my moorings have electickery. Brother in law suggested that I could use a transformer to take the power down to 12v, it this possible to do ? Dave
  6. Thanks Julynian, I have been looking for a couple of years, the boat in question has been in a friends boatyard on hardstanding for about a year, this is where it was taken when the engine died. This is why there is a brand new engine going in, a Shire 40, any comments on this engine please? This guy has been lookin out for me for about a year, he has found me a few and is well known in this area and would not put me on to something that was not worth looking at. I have also been guided by the people on here, with their invaluable knowledge. Dave Edited to ask if anyone has heard of Evans?
  7. Thanks guys, will get a pic when I go to second veiw over the weekend
  8. I have veiwed a boat last week, and at the time the owners were unsure about selling, they contacted me today and want to sell they are asking £28k. The paperwork states that the builder was Evens, but Jim Shead's site state the following: MORNING MIST Built by NOT KNOWN - Length 17.99 metres (59 feet ) - Beam 1.83 metres (6 feet ) Metal hull . Registered with British Waterways number ***** as a Powered. One of my questions is, if a builder is not prolific does it not register on Jim's site or could it have been a home build? The boat comes with a brand new engine, a Shanks 40, (with 2 yrs waranty) now this means nothing to me, any comments? There is also a Bubble Desiel Stove (unfitted, including seperate tank, unfitted), not that keen on fitting a Bubble Stove, prefer solid fuel. Would it be worth fitting, or should I put it on ebay and flog it if I buy the boat? If so about how much can I expect to get for it? Look forward the hearing your comments Dave

  10. Saw this on Appolo Duck, thought it may interest to someone http://www.apolloduck.co.uk/display.phtml?aid=78848
  11. Sorry Chris W but I have to say that comment was out of order
  12. I can see what you are saying Chris but I also see what Goldtone is saying, if they are returning to a house/flat where they dont really want to be it is very easy to buy a take away and mong out in front of the TV. From the way that I read the post I saw that Goldtone now had a reason to get back to where they wanted to be, and has lots to keep them motivated. Perhaps Goldtone may change their mind when it comes to the winter, and is too cold to even venture out.
  13. The going for the throat thing is just not true, if you trap a rat in a corner the rat will appear to go for the throat but in fact they are aiming for the light behind you to make an escape. ps: have got the hangover from hell as I was on the Spitfire last night
  14. OK time to fess up, who has brought K9?

  17. Whilst on my tiresome but refreshing search for a boat, I walked from Swindon to Greensforge on the Staffs & Worcs. Now at Hinksford Wharf there is a boat moored, it looks like a butty (but then again what do I know), it is pointed at both ends, The name Pheobe is on the front raised cabin thingy. Perhaps Moley could have look to see what he thinks as it is not too far from his work. Now I have looked on Jim Shead's site and there is no mention of this boat at all, I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to find out more information. I am getting into this boat spotting, there ia also an iron butty further along from Hinksford, it has been there a while now tied up on the offside to two trees, would love to post pics but I am not pc friendly. Dave

  21. Thanks everyone for the advice To those that mentioned the second boat, well it was just shear disappointment really, I did not mind the dog hair so much but every seat had ciggy burns in it, along with the smell. Not to mention it was a little over my budget, it would have needed a gallon of petrol and a match to make it habitable, or the fact that they had a weeks notice of us veiwing. The first guy texted this morning saying he had changed his mind. Oh well, never mind, tomorrow is another day, see what that brings. Take Care Dave
  22. Thanks guys, I knew that someone could point me in the right direction, looks like a trip out that way next weekend Thanks Dave
  23. Well the good news is my budget has doubled, Mother has decided to match my budget as long as I dont borrow any money (i.e. Bank Loan). Now the bad news, I cant seem to find a decent boat for around £20k. Have spent this weekend veiwing 3 boats that sounded great. 1st one the owner never showed up for the veiwing 2nd one looked gr8 in the pics, but the pics must have been taken about 5yrs ago when it was newly painted and the carpets were a sea of dog hair. 3rd one turned out to a Springer and not what I was looking for at all. Now for the question asked by my Mother (84yr old) "Is there a place like Car Craft where all these boats are in one place", I trawl the web most days looking at the sites but cant work out if Braunston would be the best place to look. I am based in Stourbridge West Midlands, so the weekend is the only time I get to get out searching. I am looking for a tired cruiser stern as I have a mad cocker who never leaves my side (except to chase chickens), a trad would be no good as I dont want her falling off the stern. Ideal length would be between 35 & 45ft with a fixed double berth (just in case I get lucky ). So if any of you kind people point me in the direction of the Car Craft for Boats, or know of a boat that may fill my requirements please feel free to contact me. Take Care Dave
