  1. Hi, Just come back over the Huddersfield and would suggest the following East Side - Aspley Basin , Slaithwaite (above 21E) and then Marsden West Side Uppermill (above 21W) Stopped in Staylebridge rather noisy and full of youngsters doing spins in their cars in Tesco’s car park. We had no problems, but heard that a fellow boat had his throttle handle removed.
  2. Hi We’ve just finished the ring and chugged back over to Yorkshire. We started at Portland Basin and went clockwise, had no problems at all and had a great time. Only issues was the amount of dross in the Ashton - got the propeller fouled four times, but other than that a great cruise. Stopped in Piccadilly fro Saturday night no problems. The Rochdale nine were hard work but agree with other comments the landing stages certainly make a difference. Enoy your trip.

There is a good morring at Uppermill which is only a short journey to the first lock of the west flight, we stayed there and there are shops etc in the village for provisions. Hope this helps.
  4. We have a draw under the stove for storing coal, so we don’t have to go out on a cold evening. Have a picture but not sure how to add it to this post....

  6. Hi folks, Would like to add to the discussion/ debate - if I could. We have a twin coil calorifier one form the engine and one from the Eberspacher. When we are out cruising on the cut I have fitted a second pump to the central heating pipes to circulate water round the central heating radiators and through the calorifier. So in effect I am using the calorifier backwards, there is enough heat transferred from the stored hot water to make the radiators hot to the touch and heat the cabin space. This also works to a lesser degree when the engine is on tick over and I am charging the batteries, but the heat generated is not as great through the radiators. Hope this makes sense.
  7. Hi folks, am in the process of fitting a back boiler to our stove and want to know If I need to fit a Pressure relief valve at all in the system. The system will feed three radiators down the length of the boat and also a coil through the calorifier with a standard header tank. The system will be pumped and this will be switched with a pipe stat to make sure we do not boil the water in the pipes but I am not sure if I need to fit a PRV on the top outlet of the boiler. Any help much appreciated.
  8. Had a similar problems a few months ago. The heater had blown the fuse in the small black box that feeds the eberspacher, dont know why though ?. We had to replace this and then there is a bleed on the eberspacher itself, open this till you get rid of the air from near the unit. Had no problems since - just kept my eye on the header tank
  9. Here goes for my first ever post - have been reading a lot over the past several months. My eberspatcher header tank has a sprung loaded cap and a small bleed pipe at the side, very like a radiator preasure relief valve on a car. The air is forced into the top of the tank thus letting water back into the radiator system. I assum that the header tank top would lift under enough pesure and discharge any excess water/steam if there was a fault on the heater.
