  7. Caddisfly larvae? They cover themselves in river gunk and lumber about looking for food.

    Stalling lister

I could never find a happy tick over speed, the sr3 always seemed to run too fast, especially past moored boats, so I was constantly knocking it in and out of gear. I dropped the tick over speed, but in weather like this it would stall when hot. Brought it back up again a little bit and all was good.
  9. possibly inadequate wiring pulling the voltage down below the low V threshold for the inverter. Get a multimeter on the batteries when the alarm sounds. turn off the inverter, wait a couple of mins and then take another reading. Let us know what you find.
  10. Launderettes aren't so bad. Once you know the quiet and busy periods it doesn't take long to drop stuff off, get the the shopping and other missions done and pick it up again. Loads are often bigger than domestic stuff and service washes marginally more expensive than DIY. Or buy a washing machine, fit a generator/suitable shoreline connection and bigger water tank. Domestic washing machines are one of those items you have to design the boat's electrical/water system around. Not plug and play alas!
  11. Simplest option is to use an HDMI splitter at the TV nearest the pi to create another hdmi cable run to the tv furthest from the pi. Audio wise you could take the outputs from the amp and put them into a speaker splitter. £45 for an 8.5amp supply. Way more han necessay for the small space on a boat.https://www.maplin.co.uk/p/15-24v-laptop-car-adapter-85a-with-9-charging-tips-a33hu I used a 3amp supply and it was fine. Cost about £15.
  12. IIRC that's the point. CaRT cut down the supply of moorings online when marinas have spaces, as marinas become full they make them available. I think the supply is controlled to some extent by the price, length etc of moorings. E.g. Near us they refused to negotiate on mooring length despite people needing moorings. There's an official doc out there in google land that explains this in official speak. Not sure where though.
  13. A Raspberry pi with an installation of kodi and a external USB drive is not a very difficult setup; there are plenty of step by step guides online. Have a look on eBay for T class amps as these can be run from a 12v supply. I used a 3amp 12v variable voltage step up convertor (cigarette socket plug) to drive mine, though the amp will give about 200w if matched with the right speakers and current source. You could also use a normal car amp. If you use a 3/4g WiFi dongle you can control the Pi using your phone/tablet, though this can be done without a dongle. Initial setup of the pi is easiest with the pi connected to the TV and a keyboard. Not as tricky as it seems!
  14. This might help Max beam, draft, length won't affect your ability to cross the channel. It will however place some restrictions on where you can take a boat this side of the channel. With 400k to throw at it you might as well get one built for the job. Plenty of builders both sides of the channel will help you design the right boat.
